Wow. The smile on my face won’t go away. The last two days working with producer Marc Atkinson were simply fabulous. We managed to complete our goal of recording one song. And, I left Marc’s rustic Barn Studio on tranquil Hornby Island feeling more passionate about my music than ever. Also a delightful surprise was to work with Kim June Johnson, a stellar singer-songwriter, who laid down some gorgeous harmonies.
Besides being a very talented multi-instrumentalist (his Juno nomination speaks to his virtuosity,) Marc is, by nature, a collaborator. Not only did he allow me to feel like an equal partners in important decisions, but he also challenged me to go beyond my comfort zone successfully. Like they said about Wayne Gretzky, Marc helps every player perform better.
The only downside to my short visit to Hornby Island is Marc’s busy schedule won’’t allow us more studio time until April. In the meantime, Michael and I will be hard at work writing new songs that are relevant and meaningful.
For those of you in the Vancouver area, I am the feature musician on November 3rd, 10:30am at the White Rock Centre for Spiritual Living at 1845 154 St, Surrey.
